If I am not msitaken, based on the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi, which is an epic poetry about the history of Iranian peoples from the dawn of creation until the end of Sasanian dynasty, the Iranians did not eat meat until the time of Zahak who was not actually Iranian.

Zahak was not also orginally meat eater, but after "Ahriman" or in another words "Satan" misled him and taught him how to cook meat to make it more pleasant to eat became meat eater.

Zahak later on became Iranian ruler and again if I am not mistaken the Iranian became meat eater afterwards.

These info can be checked with Shah Nameh which I do not have one handy.
